I get lots of emails asking me to insert ads for spurious junk into this blog, but I don't believe in it. If you enjoy this blog and would like to 'pay' something then you could buy one of my books, review it on Amazon, or buy me a book from my Amazon wish list. To those who have done this, I am very grateful. Thanks.

If you arrange for your parents to move overseas at the same time as you move onto a boat, then everything you own, plus all the stuff your mother kept for you in your parents’ attic when you were too young for it to be your fault, odd bits of stuff she kept for your brother when he was too young for it to be his fault, and still more odd stuff that her mother kept for her when she was too young for it to be her fault, ends up in an incredibly expensive storage unit which you always intend to go through and move somewhere less expensive, but in fact never get round to, and really if you’d known that at the beginning you might just as well have torched the lot and replaced it all years later with far nicer and more expensive stuff using the enormous pile of money you’d have saved.
