I get lots of emails asking me to insert ads for spurious junk into this blog, but I don't believe in it. If you enjoy this blog and would like to 'pay' something then you could buy one of my books, review it on Amazon, or buy me a book from my Amazon wish list. To those who have done this, I am very grateful. Thanks.

My book, The Hundred Decker Bus, is published in one week!
In celebration here is one of my favourite pages.
All Aboard
April 5, 2013 – 2:52 pm
Sorry for the lack of diary entries here recently. Been very busy organising lots of things all at once, which is a challenge for me.
In the meantime, here’s the first spread of Hundred Decker Bus, for something to look at. Notice the red double-decker bus! Macmillan deserve much thanks for letting that appear in a picture book in this homogenised world.
Book in Advance
March 5, 2013 – 10:07 am
Just the other day the postman delivered advance copies of my children’s book, due to be published in May by Macmillan. Forgive me if I plug it a bit here as it’s very exciting and has been years in the making.
In the next few weeks I’ll post some pictures from the book to get everybody whipped up into a frenzy of excitement.
Quick thanks

Just got back from holiday to find a wonderful book about bread sitting on my doorstep, sent by the mysterious Dot, a kind reader of this blog. One of the things I was particularly keen to read in the book was a rant on the horrors of the mass-produced loaf. I like a good rant as much as I like good bread. So, thanks Dot!
No scan do
April 29, 2012 – 3:17 pm
Sorry about the lack of posts recently. I am without scanner. To make up for it I thought I’d post some details of images from a top secret* book I’ve been working on. I believe this is normal behaviour for illustrators anyway.
*It’s not really top secret, but it sounds more exciting that way.

A Tale of Greed, Financial Mismanagement and Rabbits
This was a children’s book I wrote at the end of 2009, when the collapse of the banks was big news. It went on to win the Macmillan Prize for Children’s Book Illustration, but never saw the light of day as a published book, partly because it was thought that the world financial turmoil would be ancient history by the time it reached print, after two years.
Well here we are, and it’s still big news, so it’s now available as an ebook, downloadable from the iBookstore. If you have an iPad then you might like to get it.
Here are a couple of pages to give you a flavour.
