I get lots of emails asking me to insert ads for spurious junk into this blog, but I don't believe in it. If you enjoy this blog and would like to 'pay' something then you could buy one of my books, review it on Amazon, or buy me a book from my Amazon wish list. To those who have done this, I am very grateful. Thanks.

Been there! Worn that same expression…
I know exactly how you feel! I’m sometimes the only grandmother in a room full of mothers at my grand childrens school. Talk about not fitting in anywhere!
Like Thomas, been there, worn that expression. Then got bored being ignored by all the mums and played with the toys instead. Great Brio trainset there and kids love my train tracks. Better than boredom and feeling un-necessary.
I, too, have “been there – done that” but thirty-five years ago! I had hoped that things would have changed over all that time, but sadly not where you are. And anyway, what’s so wrong with being a social misfit???
Believe me Mike it’s not just because you’re a man either…I’ve never fitted in places like that.
Yes but look at the kids, they’re having a great time! As for grown-ups, that’s why pubs were invented
I’ve never been very good at infiltrating groups where people already know each other. Or even where no-one knows each other.
Mike, Have you thought about maybe wearing trousers?
What?! I can’t be bothered with any of that nonsense!
