I get lots of emails asking me to insert ads for spurious junk into this blog, but I don't believe in it. If you enjoy this blog and would like to 'pay' something then you could buy one of my books, review it on Amazon, or buy me a book from my Amazon wish list. To those who have done this, I am very grateful. Thanks.

Speccy, middle aged nerdy men? Why that’s outrageous…
My mate Pete Ashton and I invented an imaginary club for baldy four-eyed men of comics. We are legion.
Her actual comment was ‘speccy middle aged nerdy men who look just like you’… Even more outrageous!
However she then spotted a book she wanted for Christmas.
Believe me, speccy and nerdy is good. If you weren’t speccy and nerdy, imagine the sort of blokey shops she would have to hang around in! B & Q, Halfords…even Sport & Soccer – ooh I shudder to think.
For the record, I too am speccy, nerdy and heading towards middle aged and I wouldn’t have Mike any other way! Cazx
Can i be speccy and nerdy too .. i know i now wear contact lenses (because i put my glasses down and then either sit or stand on them)…. but i did wear NHS glasses all the way through my formative years … caz can vouch for me here …xx
